2009

Continuing a tradition: Once again, TRD opted to introduce the new catalog at the SEMA show in November 2008. This new catalog really shook things up with the introduction of two new superchargers – for the 4.0 V6 and the 5.7 V8. These supercharger kits included intercoolers and fully integrated, factory supported engine control reprogramming for the first time. It was also the first time a TRD supercharger kit produced a power output over 500 hp! In addition, the catalog offered the largest number of items and unique applications ever offered by TRD.

2007

All set for SEMA: This edition of the TRD catalog was released at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada, which took place in November 2006. Scion applications had grown considerably and now made up significant portion of the TRD product offering. Superchargers remain the flagship TRD product category, followed by exhaust, wheels and suspension.

2006

Scion joins the scene:The Scion supercharger was introduced with this TRD catalog edition. It was the first – and to date, the only – centrifugal supercharger offered by TRD. Like all TRD superchargers, it was emission legal and came with a full warranty. Size matters: by this time, the product offering in the catalog has increased to about 200 individual items with several hundred unique applications.

2003

Five for fighting: Five superchargers were featured in this edition of the TRD catalog, including a supercharger for Toyota’s first V8. All of the superchargers were Roots-type design and were emission legal with full warranty coverage. This edition was also the first time TRD incorporated electronic engine control upgrades with the superchargers for improved power and emission compliance.

2000

Bigger is better: This catalog was by far the most comprehensive TRD catalog to date. It introduced numerous new products, including the first time TRD offered complete performance upgrade packages for specific Toyota models – including the Camry, Solara and Corolla. In addition, there were new aero packages for Supra, MR2 and Celica. In just four years, the TRD product offering had grown to 5 times the number of items originally offered in 1996.

1998

Power for the people: The second catalog introduced TRD’s first supercharger to the world. This was a major first: it was the first time a manufacturer offered an aftermarket supercharger kit that was emission legal and supported by a full factory style warranty. The supercharger was designed to fit the 3.4-liter V6 that powered the 4Runner and the popular Tacoma pickup. This milestone led to a whole family of TRD superchargers that continues today.

1996

The birth of the TRD catalog: This was our first catalog, which marked the introduction of TRD USA performance parts in the U.S. market place. What made TRD unique – the products were available exclusively through Toyota dealers and backed by a factory style warranty for the first time. At this point, the catalog consisted of about a dozen categories of parts, mostly suspension related, that were available for popular Toyota car and truck applications.

Clearly, TRD has come a very long way in a very short time. Every step of the way, the motivating factor has been to enhance performance without compromising integrity. And the end results speak for themselves – like a 504-hp supercharged Tundra that smokes sports cars for lunch. It’s just one example of how TRD USA takes driving to the next level of performance and fun!
